Our studentsachieved excellent results in the 18th Shanghai University Students ChemicalExperiment Competition of the "Boxun Cup"

From July 12th to 14th, the 18th Shanghai University Students ChemicalExperiment Competition and Experimental Innovation and Design Competition,hosted by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, co organized by theShanghai College Chemistry Experimental Teaching Guidance Committee, andorganized by University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, was held at Universityof Shanghai for Science and Technology. Students of Applied Chemistry major in Schoolof Resources and Environmental Engineering, consisting of Luo Xingchen, YangFenfen, and Wang Weijie, competed with the students from other universities.After a two-day competition of chemical experiment theory and experimentaloperation, all three students from our school won the second prizes, and instructor Zhu Jianming was awarded theExcellent Guidance Teacher Award.

A total of 54 students from 18 universities in the Yangtze RiverDelta region, including Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, TongjiUniversity, East China Normal University, Zhejiang University, NanjingUniversity, and University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, participatedin this competition, while 26 Experimental Innovation and Design Competitionteams participated online. It is one of the most influential universitydiscipline competitions in China. The competition adopts a "double-blindselection mode" of pre and on-site competition, which comprehensivelyevaluates the theoretical knowledge, operational level, and data processingability of students in "inorganic analysis experiments and instrumentanalysis", "organic synthesis experiments and spectrumanalysis", and "physical chemistry experiments". The purpose isto test the actual level of chemistry experiment teaching in universitiesthrough the competition, test and demonstrate the achievements of recentreforms in chemistry experiment teaching in various universities, strengthenthe ability of college students to discover, analyze and solve problems, guideschools and professional teachers to pay more attention to experimentalteaching process, and promote the steady improvement of talent cultivationquality. Through this competition, our students have discovered their ownstrengths and weaknesses, as well as tested the experimental and practicalabilities and scientific literacy achievements of our undergraduate students,exploring new methods and concepts for cultivating innovative chemistry talentsin the school.
