On the afternoon of May 8, the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering held an expert review meeting for its Applied Chemistry program in Meeting Room A309 of Building 26. The review panel included Xin Zhong, Director of the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Multiphase Structured Materials; Ren Yuanyuan, Technical Manager of the Consumer Goods Division at Huace Testing and Certification Group Co., Ltd.; Liu Zhongyuan, Leader of the University Teaching Quality Assurance and Supervision Group; and Chen Guanling, Director of the University Teaching Quality Management Office. Attendees from the college included Wang Jifen, Secretary of the Party Committee; Guan Jie, Dean; Jin Huiming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Ma En, Director of the Applied Chemistry Department; all faculty members of the Applied Chemistry program; and student representatives. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Chenglong, Vice Dean of the school.
Vice Dean Zhang Chenglong introduced the review experts and extended a warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to them for their guidance. Ma En, Director of the Applied Chemistry Department, provided a detailed overview of the Applied Chemistry program, including its introduction, features, faculty team, talent training model and outcomes, courses, educational reforms, textbooks, and discipline construction. He also outlined and planned future work strategies. The review experts conducted a thorough on-site evaluation of the Applied Chemistry program through presentations, material reviews, on-site inquiries, and discussions. While acknowledging the achievements of the college, the experts identified existing issues and shortcomings in the program’s development. They provided specific guidance and suggestions on areas such as program positioning, program characteristics, faculty qualifications, educational funding, curriculum information technology and digital transformation, and teaching quality monitoring and assurance, linking these aspects to market demands.
Secretary Wang Jifen made a statement, expressing that the college would humbly accept and carefully review the feedback and suggestions provided by the experts. The college is committed to thoroughly addressing the issues identified and will continue to conduct program evaluations, further strengthen program development and uniqueness, and continuously improve the quality of talent cultivation.
