From December 2 to 4, the 16th Shanghai University Students' Chemistry Experiment Competition and Experiment Innovation Design Competition, sponsored by Shanghai Municipal Commission of Education, co-sponsored by Shanghai University Chemistry Experiment Teaching Guidance Committee, and hosted by Shanghai Normal University, was held in Fengxian Campus of Shanghai Normal University. Gao Bingying, Pu Xiaodong and Song Wenxuan, three students of 2020 majoring in Applied Chemistry of School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, participated in the competition and won all the prizes, among which Gao Bingying won the first prize, Pu Xiaodong won the second prize and Song Wenxuan won the excellence prize, which realized the breakthrough of our school in this competition.
This competition has nearly 100 students from 19 universities in Yangtze River Delta Region, including Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, University of Science and Technology of China, Nanjing University, etc., participating offline, and 20 experimental innovation design competition teams participating online, which is one of the college students' disciplinary competitions with significant influence in China. The competition adopts the double-blind selection mode of drawing lots twice before the competition and on the spot, and the inorganic synthesis and analysis experiments, organic synthesis experiments and spectral analysis and physical chemistry experiments are selected by the students. Physical Chemistry Experiment of the students' theoretical knowledge, operation level and data processing ability were comprehensively assessed, with the purpose of testing the level of chemistry experimental teaching in colleges and universities through the competition, guiding the teachers to pay more attention to the experimental teaching link, and promoting the quality of talent cultivation. The competition is also a test of our university's achievements in improving undergraduates' experimental practical ability and scientific literacy, and to explore new ideas, new ways and new methods for the university to cultivate innovative chemistry talents.
